WHAT READERS ARE SAYING
“As a fantasy fiction writer I have to admit that I am a harsher critic when it comes to novels in this genre. Books in this class I feel should be able to captivate the imagination and place you in a different realm. AEGIS RISING accomplishes that and a whole lot more. It is truly a classic in the making!” ~ Michael Beas – Bestselling Author of ‘Strump’ ~
“If you are looking for a fresh, engaging and unique YA read, this is IT! No vampires, no zombies, no dragons, no teenage love distractions; Only pure, action, adventure, intrigue, mystery, dash of sci-fi, AWESOME characters and an AMAZING plot! This is story-telling at its best. The pacing is great. It starts with a bang then slows down to build the plot and give depth to the characters, then picks up at a furious pace before slowing down slightly to develop two parallel threads and then rockets at break-neck speed to a double whammy climax, ending in a cliff-hanger! What can I say except, ’Give me book two NOW!” Jason A. Joseph
“I could easily see something like this being turned into a movie someday. Gems like this one will surprise and please you!” ~ K.S.Puckett
“This is an exceptional book that will easily fall within the same realm as other mega successful stories of teenage adventure. Would not be surprised to see this adapted into a blockbuster movie.” ~WL Johnson~
“Hold on to your seat and get ready for the ride of your life. The action scenes are incredible and epic, something I can definitely see on the big screen.” ~Amazon Reader~

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I’ve been a keen reader from a young age, however I definitely did not think I’d actually write a novel. I guess the first tell-tale sign was when I was seven or eight and I would try to write extension to the final chapters of books that I’d read because I did not want them to end
I guess the inspiration to write Aegis Rising began with the question, what kind of adventure would I like to be on if I found myself lost in a mysterious place with my four of my best friends. The when I was about twelve or thirteen, I came up with an idea for a story where five friends get washed up on the shore of an island after a freak storm separates them from their families while on a boating trip. The story did not get very far as it lacked the necessary ingredients to pass for something that would be read by people outside of your immediate family or two closest buddies! ! But it did establish a sort of groundwork for what evolved to become Aegis Rising three years later.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The five teen protagonists in Aegis Rising are partly a combination of traits and characteristics that I see in my close friends and in myself as well as from the crazy recesses of my wandering mind!
Jag took a deep breath. He remembered the words of wisdom from the Elders regarding the responsibility that came with power, and was thankful that he’d gotten through the encounter without losing his humanity.
His thoughts were broken by the resumption of airborne gunfire. Jag dove for cover behind the miners’ barracks and looked from around the corner. He could see the huge rotors of the aircraft in a vertical position as the plane hovered like a helicopter. A spray of bullets hailed down from the open ramp at the back of the plane. What are they shooting at? Jag thought as he lowered his gaze to the ground. He halted when he saw Tayoka sprinting amidst the rubble toward him, ducking and weaving to avoid the projectiles. Jag yelled and waved his arms, urging his mentor to hurry to safety next to him.
As the Elder closed in on Jag’s location, gouts of earth erupted behind him as bullets struck the ground. With unbelieving eyes Jag watched as Tayoka lurched forward, stumbling for a few paces before landing on the dirt. Jag shoved his knuckles into his mouth to keep from crying out as he watched. He forced himself to hold his position until the ramp-end of the plane swung away, then sprinted out of cover toward the Elder.
Aari and Tegan, who were crouched just inside the mess hall, had also caught sight of the Elder’s fall. They heard Jag’s scream and saw him run toward his mentor. Tegan yanked at Aari’s arm and the two raced after their friend. As they reached Tayoka, with Jag kneeling beside him, they could see the blood soaking the Elder’s tunic from the injury in his back. Jag placed two fingers on his mentor’s neck and felt a very faint pulse. He slammed his fist against the ground, knowing Tayoka was hardly hanging on.
“Is he still alive?” Tegan murmured.
Aari looked up at the Osprey. “We need to get him out of here. The plane’s going to turn back soon.”
“Take care of him,” Jag said, an edge to his voice as he stood up.
Tegan caught a look in his eyes and knew something was brewing in his mind. “What are you—”
“Just get him to safety,” he cut her off, turning to look at the plane. Without another word, he started to sprint in the direction of the aircraft. He heard his friends shouting his name but his mind was set and he was not turning back…
